# ISO 14064-2

Carborea's **"TCR - Trusted Carbon Reduction" Methodology** has been certified according to the ISO-14064-2 standard by RINA, an internationally accredited and recognised auditor.

The certification was obtained following an in-depth compliance process and the necessary analysis, verification and validation activities of the related documentation.

The UNI EN ISO 14064-2 standard is a **European standard** that provides specifications and project-level guidance for the **quantification, monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions or increased removals**.

This document includes several key aspects:

* **Definition of principles and requirements**: Establishes the principles and requirements necessary for activities aimed at reducing GHG emissions or increasing their removal. These principles (relevance, completeness, consistency, accuracy, transparency, conservativeness) are fundamental to ensuring that GHG information is accounted for fairly and correctly, guiding the application of requirements.
* **Guidance for planning and implementing GHG projects**: Includes specific requirements for planning a GHG project, identification and selection of sources, sinks and reservoirs (SSR) relevant to the project and reference scenario. It also provides guidance on monitoring, quantification, documentation and reporting of GHG project performance, as well as data quality management.
* **Support for credibility and transparency**: The application of this standard improves the environmental integrity of GHG quantification and enhances the credibility, consistency and transparency of GHG quantification, monitoring, reporting, verification and validation.
* **GHG management and mitigation**: Facilitates the development and implementation of GHG management plans and strategies, as well as the implementation of mitigation actions through emission reductions or increased removals.
* **Performance traceability**: Allows tracking of performance and progress in reducing GHG emissions and/or increasing GHG removals.
* **Basis for verification and validation**: Provides the basis for the verification and validation of GHG projects.
* **Neutrality with respect to GHG programmes**: Designed to be neutral with respect to GHG programmes (both voluntary and mandatory, internal or external), but can be used in association with them. If a GHG programme is applicable, its requirements are considered additional to those of the standard.
* **Definition of baseline and reference scenario**: Describes in detail the principles and requirements for determining the baseline (quantitative reference for the emissions/removals that would have occurred in the absence of the project) and the reference scenario, fundamental for comparing GHG project emissions and/or removals with those that would have occurred without the project.
* **GHG activity reporting**: Guides the preparation of a GHG report to communicate information to intended users, ensuring completeness, accuracy and transparency in public reporting.

The UNI EN ISO 14064-2 is an essential tool for anyone wishing to **credibly and transparently quantify, monitor and report reductions in emissions or increases in removals of greenhouse gases at project level**.
